Roof leak in Muskego, WI
After the polar vortex, ice dams became a huge issue for a lot of homeowners, this case being a perfect example. This homeowner had quite a bit of damage to their laundry room and kitchen from water leaking through their roof. Ceilings, walls and floors were affected. Insulation, drywall, trim, baseboards and vinyl flooring had to be removed from the laundry room. Cabinets had to be detached in the kitchen because the plywood behind them was very wet. Drywall and insulation had to be removed from behind the cabinets. Removing the cabinets, drywall and insulation allowed us to dry the structure properly. The area pictured above is from the laundry room. You can see the damage the water had caused to the walls and why drywall and insulation had to be removed. Insulation unfortunately cannot be dried and drywall needs to be removed so that everything can be dried properly behind it otherwise you could have mold issues down the road. It is always our goal to restore rather than replace. Our technicians here at SERVPRO of Southeast Waukesha/West Franklin only do what is necessary to effectively restore your property.
